A number of sources are reporting that Reading have sacked Jose Gomes with immediate effect.

The Telegraph’s John Percy, TalkSport’s Alex Crook and the Reading Chronicle’s Courtney Friday all claim that the 49-year-old has either been dismissed or will be in the next 48 hours.

Reading are currently on a run of six games without a win following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Bristol City that saw them slip into the relegation zone.

Gomes took over from Paul Clement last December and helped the club move away from relegation trouble, rejuvenating with the club and connecting with the fanbase. Despite heaving investment in the summer, it has been a difficult to start to the current campaign with just two wins from 11 league games. Overall, the Portuguese boss’s win percentage at the helm of the Royals stands at 24.32%.
