Reading 1-0 QPR: Player Ratings

Harry rates the Reading players from a gritty, determined three points against QPR.

Rafael: 8

Filled the huge shot-stopping shoes left by Emi Martinez with two fantastic saves. Still needs to improve his decision making sometimes in terms of his distribution, but a commanding performance from the Brazilian.

Chris Gunter: 7

A very, very solid performance from the Welshman. His return to the first team has been treated with a mixed reaction to say the least, but keep performing like this and he is a fantastic backup for Andy Yiadom.

Michael Morrison: 7

A dominant performance from our very own ‘Slabhead’. Won pretty much everything in the air and part of a defence that has just picked up their third clean sheet in a row - not bad.

Liam Moore: 8

Back to his best. He’s said himself he thrives off that left-sided centre-back position in a four, and he proved that with a true captain’s performance.

Tyler Blackett: 7

A reliable performance from the left back - something that we’ve not been able to say much during his time in Berkshire.

Yakou Meite: 7

Not as prominent as he was against Derby County, but still caused problems and did his defensive duties impeccably well - something Mark Bowen, and the fans, will love to see.

Charlie Adam: 7

We don’t have many players who can pass a ball over long range like Charlie Adam, if any. His legs went in the second half, as they often do, but he was brilliant while he was on the pitch.

Pele: 7

Tidied up very well as the more defensive-minded midfielder whenever we were left a bit exposed. Really growing into this team and this league and looks a really useful player.

John Swift: 8

Can I give him a 8 just for that one goal? Well, I’m going to. Actually, it wasn’t just his goal, he dictated the play as he so often does and proved why we are such a better team with him playing. But it’s mainly because of his goal.

Ovie Ejaria: 7

Not his brightest performance, but still found time for some magical moments of skill - he only ever gets better to watch. What a joy to have him playing for Reading.

Lucas Joao: 7

His best game in a Reading shirt? I think so. Unfortunate not to get on the scoresheet but he ran himself into the ground, held the ball up in tricky situations and was a constant nuisance.

Subs

Andy Rinomhota: 6

Was brought on to shorore up the midfield and to some extent did that job, but wasn’t on long enough to make any real difference.

Michael Olise: N/A

Not on long enough to do anything substantial.

Lucas Boye: N/A

Ditto.

Average: 7.17/10
