Away from matters on the pitch, it’s been a very busy few months for Reading behind-the-scenes too. The period back to September 2018, when we last asked you to rate the Royals’ owners Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li, has seen the club go through quite a change.
After Ron Gourlay stepped down from his role as CEO in mid-November, Nigel Howe was eventually brought back to his former position as chief executive to replace the Scot. Howe quickly sacked manager Paul Clement before technical director Gianluca Nani departed the next day.
Since then, Jose Gomes has been appointed as the new gaffer - a move which is rumoured to have been pushed by the owners rather than Howe, who preferred the option of Phil Parkinson. Gomes’ squad was upgraded in the January transfer window by five loan additions (Ovie Ejaria, Lewis Baker, Nelson Oliveira, Emiliano Martinez and Matt Miazga), and a hefty trimming of the fringe players.
On the whole it looks like a very good couple of months for Reading, although the team is still perilously close to the bottom three.
So, with all the above in mind, how good a job do you think the owners are doing? Vote in our poll below, and leave us some more specific thoughts in the comments below, on social media, or email us thetilehurstend@gmail.com
