Ryan East is unlikely to forget Tuesday 12th March 2019 in a hurry, as not only as he been handed his Reading debut, but he’s agreed a new contract with the club as well.

The 20-year-old had previously been named on the bench in the games against Manchester United in the FA Cup and Wigan Athletic just last weekend, but now Jose Gomes has picked him to start with Ovie Ejaria ruled out through injury.

In the academy this season East has made 26 appearances for the Under-23s so far, captaining the side on multiple occasions too, so certainly deserves his chance with the first team.

Meanwhile, his new contract will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until 2021 - hopefully signalling that the midfielder will have a long and successful career as a Royal.
