Reading will be in need of a new shirt sponsor soon, with Carabao’s partnership set to expire in the summer. Thailand’s answer to Red Bull begun their sponsorship of the Royals in the summer of 2015, and the iconic water buffalo has adorned Reading’s shirts ever since.

It’s certainly been an eventful four years, and Carabao want to commemorate their time in Berkshire. The Tilehurst End has been exclusively told by Carabao that they will soon release a Hob Nob-flavoured energy drink.

A spokesperson for the company told us:

“All in all, the last four years have been a huge success for us at Carabao. In 2015, we were a highly ambitious company, set on breaking into the British energy drinks market. Of course, partnering with Reading Football Club was the logical next step.

“We’re extremely proud of the success that both Carabao and Reading Football Club have achieved together, both on and off the pitch - not to mention the Carabao transfer teaser videos on Twitter.

“We would be honoured to present one last gift to the people of Berkshire. As we all know, Reading is a club with a long, proud history, not least thanks to its globally known tradition of producing quality biscuits. In fact, many children in Thailand were named ‘Huntley’ or ‘Palmer’ in celebration of our sponsorship deal with the club in 2015.

“Because of this, we plan to release a limited-edition Hob Nob-flavoured energy drink before the end of the season. It will be available in both regular and zero-sugar varieties, but both versions will contain genuine chunks of Hob Nob to give the drink extra authenticity.

“We are delighted to share a teaser image of this delicious new drink.”
