It’s that time again; we want to know how well you think Jose Gomes has done as Reading manager.
The last time we asked you was February 2019, at which point Reading were 21st in the table. Despite some improvements since his arrival, Gomes hadn’t managed to get the Royals out of the relegation dog-fight, taking 10 points from his first 11 games in charge.
Nonetheless, you rewarded his man-management, strong connection with the fans and all-round positive influence at the club with a score of 3.41/5 - much higher than Paul Clement’s final grade of 1.9 and Jaap Stam’s of 1.8.
A few months later, we’re safe! Reading proved to be more than up for the fight under Gomes, ending the season seven points clear of the bottom three, with our home form and ability to grind out draws in a tough run-in turning out to be vital. Many of you put survival down to Gomes himself, and he was rewarded for his impact with a ‘Portugal Day’ celebration for the final match of the season.
We’d now like to know what you make of the job Gomes has done in his time at the club so far. As ever, grade him from 1-5 on the poll below. The lowest mark is 1, highest is 5.
Either use the poll below or, if it doesn’t show up, use this link right here.
