Reading have reportedly finalised a deal with Millwall for the sale of Jon Dadi Bodvarsson. According to The Sun, The Royals will bank £750,000 for the striker.
There’s no other detail on this story at the moment, but we do know for sure that Bodvarsson is due to leave the club this summer. He was one of a number of players transfer-listed by the club in a bid to reduce the size of the squad and cut the wage bill.
This news also comes on the back of a tweet from former Reading Chronicle journalist Courtney Friday who reported that there’s interest from multiple clubs in Bodvarsson’s services.
Some more late news. I understand Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is weighing up offers from the Championship and a Greek top-flight club. #readingfc

All in all, getting £750,000 for Bodvarsson is decent but hardly spectacular business. It’s some way short of what Reading paid for him - above £1million - and he’s probably worth a decent amount more. However, we need cash in the bank and wages off the books quickly. Getting him out of the club as soon as possible will help the club’s recruitment drive this summer.
He’s set to be joined by at least half a dozen other players in leaving the club. The most likely of those at the moment is Liam Kelly, who has passed a medical at Jaap Stam’s Feyenoord and agreed a contract. We’re just waiting on a fee to be agreed for his services, but he’ll likely leave the club in the next few days or so.
Otherwise, Garath McCleary could be off to the MLS, Sam Baldock to Charlton Athletic, and Liam Driscoll to Yeovil Town. You can keep up with all these rumours as they come out in our transfer rumour tracker right here.
On the other hand though, Joao Virginia is likely to be our first summer signing. Whether or not that’s waiting on a player to leave is at this point unlikely.
