Reading’s season has turned sour all of a sudden. After losses to Charlton Athletic and Middlesbrough, the Royals made it three straight defeats with a 2-1 reverse at home to Blackburn Rovers.
Tony Mowbray’s side opened the scoring early on in the first half and doubled their advantage soon into the second. Although John Swift halved the deficit for Reading, there was no comeback.
From a performance perspective, it was a day to forget for the Royals, particularly during a drab first half when passes frequently went astray and Jose Gomes’ team couldn’t get going in the final third. Although there were improvements after the break, it wasn’t enough, and boos rang out at full time.
