Nottingham Forest 1-1 Reading: Player Ratings

How we graded the Royals’ performances at Forest as a late Sam Baldock goal was enough for a draw.

Rafael: 6

Rarely tested and had little to do. It was a credit to his defence that he won’t have many quieter games this season.

Chris Gunter: 6

Excellent defensive performance and supported Michael Olise well in the first half. Maybe over-committed himself in the run up to the Nottingham Forest goal, which is why he didn’t get a seven.

Michael Morrison: 7

Solid performance. Knew when to calm the game down in possession and when to up the pace.

Liam Moore: 6

Similar display to Morrison but I might feel he lost Lewis Grabban for his goal.

Tyler Blackett: 6

Another composed performance. One moment in the second half when he was far too relaxed in possession in his own penalty area and was lucky Forest didn’t take advantage.

Pele: 7

Worked hard and did a good job covering the defence. Like the centre backs, he got the balance right between cautious passing in a slow build-up and driving forward to force the game.

John Swift: 6

Lively performance without ever really getting going.

Michael Olise: 7

Showed lovely footwork throughout with some incisive crossfield balls. Looks at home at this level and proved he should be ahead of Lucas Boye in the pecking order.

Ovie Ejaria: 6

More involved than he was against Millwall. Like Swift we’ll see better games from him, but Reading always play better when the two of them see more of the ball.

Jordan Obita: 7

The cross for the goal was not the first dangerous one he had done. Worked hard and regularly got himself into dangerous areas. On the basis of this game, and his cameo at the weekend, he deserves a run of games on the wing.

George Puscas: 5

Worked harder than he sometimes does, but was the one player who struggled to get into the game. Did little to suggest why he should being starting ahead of Baldock while Lucas Joao is injured.

Subs

Sam Baldock: 7

Tidy goal that saved Reading a point. Has to start next game.

Danny Loader: N/A

Not on long enough but with Puscas being out of sorts he could be a good match against Cardiff City away from getting himself more game time.

Average: 6.3/10
