When Brian Howard arrived at Reading FC, fans may have been more focused on the departure heading the other way. James Harper, a member of the famous 106 title-winning squad, left for Sheffield United and in his place came a player of a similar ilk.

Brendan Rodgers was known for his ball-carrying, technical and patient play and Howard appeared to fit the bill perfectly. And while things didn’t work out for the coach, the player enjoyed a strong spell with the club.

In a TTE Podcast special, the former midfielder discusses his run in the team, being benched for the 2011 play-offs, the family tragedy that marred the 2012 title win, and his career as an agent.
