Not many people can provide behind-the-scenes insight into one of the best periods of Reading’s recent history as well as one of the worst. But Nigel Gibbs, assistant manager to both Brian McDermott and Paul Clement, certainly can.

A legend at Watford as a player, Gibbs chats to The Tilehurst End about his Royals journey, from joining the club in 2006 to help coach the reserve squad, to helping the first team win a magnificent promotion in 2012. He then returned to Berkshire in 2018, by which point it was a totally different club.

The 54-year-old also discusses coaching a young Gylfi Sigurdsson, what happened at half-time in the 2011 play-off final, his favourite Reading memories and more.
