Saturday’s game between Reading and Brentford has been postponed due to a coronavirus outbreak at the West London club.
A number of players and staff from the Bees have been told to self-isolate following a spate of positive test results in their camp.
Brentford’s game with Bristol City in midweek has also been called off with both matches now needing a time to be rescheduled.
For Reading, it means a slightly lengthened break before facing Coventry on Tuesday, January 19. The Royals then play Preston on the following Saturday after both clubs were knocked out of the FA Cup, with January 23 initially set for fourth-round ties.
There are plenty of midweek slots available for the Brentford game to be rearranged, although their own cup run, plus the rearranged Bristol City game, means their fixture list will be rather more congested.
Not only do Brentford have a game in hand on Reading already, they will also have to find a date for a trip to Swansea that is being rescheduled from the fourth-round weekend.
It’s complicated but stay tuned to TTE for the news of the new date and time when we have it, and a big get well soon to those affected in the Bees camp.
