Congratulations to Josh Laurent, who you have voted as Reading’s player of the month for December! The midfielder was a comfortable winner of our poll with a 69% share of the votes, followed by Tom Holmes with 17% and then Michaels Morrison and Olise with 7% each.
After signing on a free transfer from Shrewsbury Town in the summer, Laurent has made the step up to the Championship appear seamless and had an excellent debut season in blue and white hoops so far. In December, he won four out of a possible eight man of the match awards in TTE’s polls and came runner-up in a further two.
The 25-year-old has formed an excellent partnership with Andy Rinomhota at the base of Reading’s midfield, but takes on a more offensive role than the academy graduate. Laurent’s driving runs forward have become somewhat of a trademark, but he is also regularly seen making vital interceptions further back. That’s indicative of his remarkable energy levels that have become such a key part of how this Reading team operates.
Congratulations again Josh, and thank you for being an absolute baller.
