Bristol City Fans Verdict: Loyal Royals Delight At Easy Win

The best bits to come from the Reading faithful’s reaction to Tuesday nights walk in the park against Bristol City.

Well that was a very fun Tuesday night’s entertainment, wasn't it? We needed to see a reaction after two bad results - particularly Saturday’s awful outing - and we duly got on. I mean, Bristol City made it pretty easy for us, but it was the kind of performance that will breath new life into both the fans and the players.

You never know what you’re going to get when you’re playing a team who are coming off the back of an absolute hammering as City were. But, fortunately for us, we got a team who looked really low on confidence - and that made for perfect opposition when you’re trying to bounce back yourselves.

From the first whistle we were the team in the ascendancy and the only side that ever looked like scoring. Alfa Semedo and Andy Rinomhota gave us a firm base in midfield for Michael Olise, Ovie Ejaria, Lucas Joao and Michael Morrison to work their magic at the top end of the pitch. Yes, that's right, I said Michael Morrison.

It was a solid three points, and a much-needed win that the fans thoroughly enjoyed. Here’s the best bits from Twitter post-match...

Lucas Joao

He’s just too good for this league. The ease with which he held off Taylor Moore, took Olise’s cross in his stride and finished past Dan Bentley was incredible to watch, and it’s just something we’ve become used to.

As a centre back in the Championship you must know as soon as he’s pinned you, it’s game over. He’s just too strong and too good with his feet.

He got another goal on Tuesday evening as we got back to winning ways, and the fans were impressed...

Magical Morrison

Morrison has built a reputation throughout his career of being a goal-scoring centre back, but he surely hasn’t scored one like that? If he has, he’s playing in the wrong position.

The audacity to take it on the halfway line, ease past one player, pass to Joao, and then continue his run into the box is one thing - but then to dink it over the keeper after a filthy assist from Lucas (we won’t mention the deflection). Wow.

What a moment, and one that encapsulated everything we love about this team. The fans were loving it...

Perfect reaction

Yes, The Robins weren't the fiercest opposition we’ve played all season, but it was still a seriously impressive performance and one that will surely please Pauno and his staff.

Two fantastic goals, a clean sheet and three points away from home. Like I said earlier, the kind of performance and result that will just breathe that confidence back into the team.

The fans were buzzing with it...

Conclusion

A really important, vital three points. And one that sets up another huge game against ‘Boro on Saturday - win that and that is one giant foot in the play-offs. Michael Morrison, when’s the statue going up? That bloke, this team. Just wonderful.
