Reading Release New 2021-22 150th Anniversary Home Kit And It’s Pretty Damn Cool

It’s blue, it’s white... it’s dynamite.

It’s kit release day! And the 2021-22 Reading FC home shirt offering is not quite as straightforward as checking: “Is it blue and white hoops? Ok then.”

This season is the club’s 150th anniversary and a couple of special features adorn the design.

First things first: it is blue and white hoops. Macron are again behind the design with Select Car Leasing dropping in as main shirt sponsor after Casumo’s main deal expired, and the new logo actually fits in rather nicely with the thinner-than-usual hoops.

There have been some murmurings against the hoops on the front and sleeves not lining up but otherwise the look of the shirt is rather crisp. Gold trim lines the neck and sleeves with a gold badge marking the anniversary. It is hard to tell on the early photos but names of Royals greats are also printed into the hoops - Dolan, Doyle, Cureton et al. Which is pretty sweet.

The home goalkeeper jersey is a green affair modelled on the shirt worn by Steve Death during his imperious run in the 1970s. Details of the away shirt are coming soon.

Fans can pick up the full kit from the online megastore, with the adult shirt £50 a pop. While you wait for the post to arrive, get the juices flowing with the club’s release video - a three minute long look across Reading’s glamorous history...
