Barnsley v Reading: Player Ratings

Here's how we saw the game at Oakwell as Reading drew 1-1 with Barnsley. Please also feel free to vote for your player of the match in the poll below.

Ben Hoskins

Alex McCarthy: 6.5

Competent in all handling, distribution the worst all season.

Chris Gunter : 6

A threat going forward, overrun in the later stages.

Stephen Kelly: 6

Uncomfortable night, ok defensively but was poor with the ball.

Alex Pearce: 5

Dominant in the air, given a hard time by Scotland and O'Grady who found shots easy to come by.

Sean Morrison: 5

As Pearce but as captain should shoulder the burden of responsibility to push the back line up. Should have scored.

Chris Baird : 4

Anonymous, in the team to win the ball, didn't do it adequately enough. On this showing needs to play in a midfield five.

Danny Guthrie: 6.5

Good on the ball when presented with it, otherwise anonymous. Defensively sound in the diamond.

Garath McCleary: 7

Our only threat in the first half, played well when at the point of the diamond second.

Hal Robson-Kanu: 6

Flattered to deceive again, lack of threat going forward but his strike, on reflection, was a peach.

Pavel Pogrebnyak: 4

Lost everything in the air against Ramage, should maybe have been sent off in injury time.

Adam Le Fondre: 6

Second half movement was sometimes excellent but should have scored. Poor finishing from him when presented with with chances to seal the win.

Subs:

Jobi McAnuff: 5

Fairly anonymous and rusty, unable to impact attacking proceedings but defensively good down the left.

Hope Akpan: 2

Hope-less. Tracking poor, positionally atrocious, his worst performance in a Reading shirt.

Billy Sharp: 5

No real effect on the game in his cameo appearance.

So that's how we rated them but what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
