Ipswich v Reading: Player Ratings

James Froud returns to give his views on the players during our 2-0 defeat at Ipswich, while you have your chance to vote for your player of the match.

Jordan Mansfield

Alex McCarthy- 6

Made a great save from McGoldrick when faced one-on-one and dealt with corners relatively comfortably. Possibly could have done better with the second goal.

Chris Gunter- 6
Supported McCleary heavily during the first half but limited during the second. The only time Hunt got the better of him resulted in the first goal.

Alex Pearce- 5
Always looked pressured and never confident on the ball. Doesn't appear to suit a passing mentality.

Kaspars Gorkks- 5
Went missing for both goals but dealt fairly well with the Ipswich forwards in general.

Jordan Obita- 6
Attacked and defended well. Linked up well with McAnuff down the left side constantly, nearly creating a goal for Alfie. Looked tired for the second goal.

Garath McCleary- 6
The main threat in the first half with his penetrating runs. Went quiet during the second.

Danny Williams- 5
Had a couple of decent shots saved from Gerken but went missing for most of the match. First touch deserted him.

Hope Akpan- 6
Looked composed and dominant in the first half but along with Williams, went missing in the second. Looking confident though.

Jobi McAnuff- 7
Despite some poor decision making in the final third, Jobi looked dangerous everytime he attacked. On another day he could've won a penalty in the first half.

Adam Le Fondre- 5
Dominated in the air by Ipswich's tall defence. Failed to make a mark in the game despite being just out of reach from an Obita cross. What a difference a week makes.

Pavel Pogrebnyak- 5
Looked tired after a long run in the team but nonetheless put in another good shift. Missed a key chance in the first half.

Subs:

Nick Blackman- 5
Some nice touches but missed a golden opportunity when it looked easier to score. Frustrating player at times.
