The rumour merchants have linked Dillon Powers of the Colorado Rapids with a move to Reading initially on a trial basis according to The Sun & Denver Post. The midfielder was the 11th overall pick in the MLS Superdraft, which is essentially an annual pick of the best college & high school players, in 2013 and won the club's Rookie of the Year in his first season.
The Rapids Vice-President had this to say on Powers...
"He's a very sharp young man, he has everything thought through and Europe is something that he would like to experience somewhere down the road in his career."
The midfielder has an eye for goal as well, with 13 goals in 91 appearances for the Rapids as well as representing his country at U20 level and would be a welcome addition to the squad given injuries to Stephen Quinn and Aaron Tshibola. Helpfully he also holds an Italian passport so wouldn't have a problem with a work permit, thus paving the way for a potential January move. Former Royal Kevin Doyle has spent the past few months playing with Powers for the Rapids and was complimentary about the midfielder.
@chris_ramsell @TalkReading @powerhour5 dodgey vegan! but v good player...attacking midfielder....hope it works out

So one to keep an eye on as the months progress, here's hoping we get the next Bobby Convey (well the 2005/06 version)
