The Sunday Mirror have reported that Southampton are eyeing up reading's Australian 'keeper Adam Federici as a replacement for the injured Fraser Forster. With the England goalkeeper out for anything up to a year, the Saints are keen to bring in quality cover for the position, with 38-year-old Kelvin Davis not viewed as a long-term option.
With Federici out of contract this summer it would be a low cost move for Ronald Koeman's side, while Federici might view Forster's absence as a real chance to show what he can do at Premier League level after an indifferent campaign for Reading in the top division two years ago.
30-year-old Federici has been one of the club's most reliable players this season and throughout his nine-years in Berkshire but as a man who signed an 'Anton' contract after we'd won promotion three years ago, it's likely he'd have to take a pay cut to remain on the books at the Madejski Stadium.
He's one of a number of players out of contract this summer and few could blame the Australian for giving the Premier League another crack.
So what do you think folks? Should we break the bank to keep Fedders at the club or should he go with our blessing?
