Reports today in the Daily Mail had linked Reading with a £3m move for Peterborough striker Conor Washington, a move that would seemingly make sense given the departure of Nick Blackman for a similar fee just 24 hours previously.
Washington has fired home 14 goals for the League One side this season and at 23 would appear to be a decent long-term investment.
However, frustrated with constant media speculation over his players, Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony took to social media to get the facts straight and while not naming names, he does appear to hint that Reading could be one of the clubs in the running.
On Monday Night turned down a multi multi million pound bid for C Washington from a recently relegated Premier league club. Fact.

And Yesterday morning I again turned another bid down for Conor from a large championship club. Fact. 3 bids/3 rejections on terms offered.

So what chance do Reading have of landing the striker?
Posh dont stand in players ways moving on to big things ever as long as everybody is happy that are factors in a deal. That is truth.

So there does seem a deal to be done over the striker but only if the right terms are offered. Given that the fee mooted is already breaking the club's transfer record, I can't see Reading overly happy to be in a bidding war and with the negotiations now being played out in the public eye will the club's ownership really want to get involved?
That remains to be seen but we'll of course keep you updated on developments right here on The Tilehurst End while you can hear what Wimb & Charles had to say on Washington in this morning's Tilehurst End Podcast Extra.
