The rumours have been circling for days, but it’s been confirmed that Reading are keen on signing Fulham’s goalkeeper David Button by Reading Chronicle reporter Courtney Friday.
Just had it confirmed that #readingfc did indeed bid for David Button. More coming soon.

David Button started the 2016/17 season as Fulham’s first choice goalkeeper, but was usurped at the tail end of the season, with Marcus Bettinelli coming in and facing Reading in the play-off semi-final matches.
The 28-year-old Button, who played for Fulham 40 times last season, kept 11 clean sheets and has the added bonus of being used to a possession philosophy.
Fulham manager Slaviša Jokanović is well known for implementing a style of play that encourages all players on the pitch to be comfortable with the ball at their feet, so Stam clearly sees Button as a goalkeeper that can join The Royals and settle in quickly as he looks to push for promotion again.
The rumour seems to have legs too, as GetReading reporter Jonathan Low tweeted that there’s a goalkeeper incoming.
Told there could be a new goalkeeper at #readingfc in the next couple of days..so watch this space!

However, just because Reading have bid doesn’t mean we should expect the transfer to go through, as South London Press sports editor Richard Cawley tweeted last night that Fulham seem to be setting a high asking price for both of their goalkeepers.
Fulham seem to be pricing Marcus Bettinelli and David Button out of moves. Want big money for the pair.

And one Fulham fan has warned us not to get ahead of ourselves, despite the seemingly perfect fit for the club.
To Reading: There's a reason David Button lost his spot and didn't feature from 4th April. That's all I'll say.

Either way, the hunt for a first-choice goalkeeper looks set to continue as Ali Al-Habsi has confirmed his departure from the club.
